Deauville A la Recherche du Temps Perdu. A charming Anglo Normand  seaside town 2 hours from Paris. With long walks and long golden beaches. Plus 2 famous race courses where the racing is tip top in August.Author Marcel Proust stayed along the coast at Benerville-sur-Mer writing his cult French novel, A la Recherche du Temps Perdu. At the end of the 19th century, Marcel Proust was regularly invited to La Villa Mon Reve. Proust’s personages were inspired by the members of the Parisian High Society, writers & painters,  whom he met at the Villa Mon Reve, where the duc  & duchesse de Guiche used to come for the summer & hold their parties & musical soirees. Proust first met Gallimard, who became his Publisher, on the coast where Gallimard owned several beautiful Villas. Later The painter Bonnard was also a regular visitor. His painting Table sur Jardin was painted here in 1934,  this major work is now in the  Guggenheim Museum in New York
